Outsider Thread is a podcast project that takes listeners behind the scenes of the creative industry, dismantling preconceptions by sharing authentic experiences on what it is like to work as an artist. The series forms a database of conversations with creatives from a diverse range of industries, social groups, and cultural backgrounds. Outsider Thread maintains a central focus on amplifying stories from people of colour, people with disabilities, and people who identify as queer.

For this week’s episode of Outsider I sat down with Lynn Tran, who DJs under the moniker of fukhed.
A Brisbanite who's recently moved to Sydney, Lynn is a DJ and aspiring producer who recently won the AIAIAI x HÖR Berlin DJ Mix Challenge, and flew over to record a mix in the iconic bathroom.
While she's now focusing on DJing, Lynn has previously worked in both music marketing and international fashion buying and production. She regards these roles as both enriching and challenging, and a common theme in Lynn's stories is bringing past lessons learned into her approach to new projects.
We discuss the challenges we face in the pursuit of creative fulfillment, and compare notes on the reality of working in full-time corporate creative roles.

Erica is a fundraising specialist and board member of multiple charitable organisations supporting the creative industry across the Asia-Pacfic. Erica is also a part of the Carribean Commission for transatlantic slave trade reparations, and has published a book on the role of indigenous and ethnic people in World War Two.
